We look at the body in health as meaning perfection and harmony, not in one part, but in the whole (Andrew Taylor Still). This quote indicates the holistic origins of Osteopathy. These origins are incorporated into the work of our practitioners at the Health Boutique. The session begins with a consultation and osteopathy treatment utilising techniques noted (above). The focus is designed to guide the body into balance. Our patients remain fully clothed.
What happens at your first consultation:
💎 Your osteopath will ask about your problem and symptoms. This will include your medical history, any medications you are taking or other factors that may not appear to be directly related to your problem.
💎 Your osteopath will advise if they can treat you or if you need to be referred.
💎 Your osteopath will conduct an examination and clinical tests, which determine how best to manage your condition.
💎The examination may include passive and active movements. You remain fully clothed. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing.
💎 Osteopathy takes a whole of body approach to treatment. Your osteopath may look at the area that is troubling you as well as other parts of your body. For example if you have a sore neck, your osteopath may also look at your shoulder, elbows and wrist.
💎Your osteopath may also provide education and advice to help you manage your condition between treatments. This may include giving you exercises to do at home or work.
💎 Safety: We follow competencies of the OCNZ in so far as informed consent, patient confidentiality and management of patient records is concerned. As we are ACC accredited registered service providers, we are able to initiate an ACC claim for you, saving to you time off work/home/play 😊.
